Here’s a little fan fact that doubles as a Halloween Terrors HC;
Now this is from my basic knowledge and summaries I’ve heard but In the original story of Dracula, Van Helsing isn’t just a monster hunter, but a fully licensed doctor. It’s actually why he’s introduced into the story, one of the characters is sick and nothing the other characters do seem to help (because she was bitten by a vampire) so they bring in Van Helsing. His full title being Dr. Van Helsing.
Which leads me to my head canon that Gunslinger/VanHelsing!Cassidy is either a fully licenced doctor or wanted to be a doctor before he started monster hunting. Either way he actually has an extensive knowledge on medicine. Which is funny in the context of canon Cassidy knowing very little about science or the medical field.
I’m choosing to believe that Angela, Genji, Cassidy and Fareeha did similar stuff to what Kiriko, Brigitte, Hana and Lena are doing to the “Perfect Night” video.
They might not have gone to concerts since I don’t really think Genji or Fareeha would have wanted to go to concerts during that time of their lives (Cassidy and Ange definitely went to some tho), but I do think they went to do fun stuff together in their down times. We at least know that Cassidy, Fareeha and Mercy go do different sports stuff together like bowling. So I like to think Genji is usually invited to stuff like that too. I also like to think they all go to amusement parks together.
I was re-reading Train Hopper…again….when I noticed something interesting:
He isn’t grabbing onto anything here.
He literally just jabbed his fingers into the side of the train.
Look at this;
There are indents where his fingers are!!
How strong is hit prosthetic?
Because I don’t think we’ve seen anyone else do something like this besides Doomfist, and I assume that Sojourn can do this too, but those a very much prosthetics specifically made for them.
And his prosthetic is also not only indenting a train, but is holding Cassidy’s entire body wieght while traveling at abnormally high speeds. After all;
The train is moving really fucking fast.
Every time I come back to this comic I find out something neat about Cassidy’s character that I either didn’t realize before or is now fully in context because of the lore we now have.
Cassidy’s fighting style being mostly relying on the environment around him is so important to me and I wish people talked about it more.
Cause from what I’ve seen the only other character who uses the environment like Cassidy does is Sombra and even then she doesn’t use the environment as much as Cassidy does. In all honesty he’s also probably one of the characters with the most spatial awareness too, especially when he’s fighting.
Every time we see fight sequences with Cassidy he’s always utilizing what is around him to his advantage. Shooting polls and other objects in or to hit or disorientate enemies, using changing factors to his advantage, using crowds and uneven ground in order to gain distance between enemies.
The reason I like this is because it shows the difference in training and upbringing that Cassidy had compared to other characters. He grew up on the streets and during a time or high conflict and low resources. So of course he’d be more reliant on creative strategies and whatever environment he’s in at that moment.
Intentional or not, the fighting style that Cassidy has is very good visual storytelling on how his character thinks and is a really good indicator of what his past is like.
This really makes the Studios costing themselves even more money (and getting more unions involved) by prolonging the strike for the promise of free ai labor even more fucking funny. you dumb fucking bastards lol
